Turkmenistan’s Embassy in Uzbekistan
held a briefing on the upcoming February 12 elections of president of Turkmenistan
and the end of 2011.
The head of the diplomatic mission Soltan
Pirmuhamedov in his address said the relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan can be considered as an
example of the most trustful relations, friendship between close neighbors and
friends. There are many activities planned in 2012 aimed at further developing
the bilateral cooperation in various fields, including holding of ministerial
consultations, organization of the Days of Turkmen Cinema in Tashkent and etc.
The trade and economic relations takes a
particular place in our cooperation. For 11 months of 2011 the trade turnover
between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan for
the first time was $505 million, showing growth of 189% over the same period in
2010.
What was said by Ambassador give confidence in
the revitalization of further trade and economic ties between the countries.
As noted by Ambassador Pirmuhamedov, given
that the 12 February the presidential elections will be held in Turkmenistan,
all conditions for functioning of one of the polling stations to be opened
abroad will be in the building of Turkmenistan Embassy in Tashkent. The
presidential elections in Turkmenistan
will be open on a competitive basis, there will be organized private and secret
voting. They are open to observers who may be nominated by initiative groups
and will need to be accredited by the CEC. Legitimacy will be determined by
actual participation in the elections. Given the unity of the Turkmen people,
peace and tranquility in the country, there is confidence that these elections
will be held at a good level of organization.
