Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
of Canada with residence in Moscow John Sloan paid a six-day visit to Uzbekistan.
The complex issues of the Uzbek-Canadian
relations were discussed during the talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
the Republic of Uzbekistan. The sides discussed
approaches to the development of relations in the framework of the agreements
reached during the political consultations held last July in Tashkent.
Recognized the urgency of development of joint
efforts aimed at effective use of economic and investment opportunities of the
parties to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation. In this context, according
to participants in the negotiations, the importance of the proposal of the
Canadian side of the exchange of visits by representatives of business
communities.
Mutual interest in intensifying contacts in
science and technology, health and education, the linkages between higher
education institutions of Uzbekistan
and Canada
was stressed.
As part of the conversation the sides
exchanged views on international issues, including its regional aspects.
