Star
of the East - Tashkent has been always attracting its guests with the
hospitality of Uzbek people. This city welcomes the travelers with bright sun
and cloudless skies, green parks and beautiful buildings. Old Tashkent for its
2200-year history was named as Chach, Binkat, Shash. The capital of Uzbekistan,
always friendly and hospitable, has become a symbol of the country, formed the
image of Uzbekistan. Every day it is visited by numerous guests who come from
distant countries or regions of the country. And each of them wants to feel the
spirit of the city, feel the rhythm of its life. And who can tell better about
Tashkent then its residents
The subway
If you’re new in Tashkent, you have to
necessarily go down to the subway, because it is the only subway in Central
Asia. The more so each metro station is a unique work of art. Each station has
its original design. I think the most beautiful is Cosmonaut one: once on it
you feel like in another dimension. Tashkent metro has three lines stretching
over 37 km. It’s very popular with locals, says Marina Kuzmina, a student of
the National University of Uzbekistan.
Tashkent in full view
To know the beauty of Tashkent, one must visit
the television tower. This tower of 375 meters high takes honorable eleventh
place among all the TV towers in the world in height. You can enjoy the
panorama of the city from the observation deck or windows of the cozy
restaurant at 100 meters over the land. The floor platform rotating around of
the tower trunk, the refined dishes of European and Asian cuisine, live music
will enhance the perception of the picturesque scenery outside the windows,
says Ekaterina Serova, expert at the Research Institute of Standardization,
Metrology and Certification.
Symbolic fountain
Tashkent residents
love to spend warm night by the fountain in front of Alisher Navoi Opera and
Ballet Theater. Perhaps, because here they can admire not only the interesting
cotton-shape design of the fountain, look at water sprays illuminated with
colored lights and music, and the theater with one of the most beautiful
buildings in the city. It was built in 1947 and combines national design with
European shapes, says photographer Hamid Aliyev.
Motley colors of bazaars
To understand the
lives of Uzbek people, one must visit the bazaar. The most distinctive one is
Chorsu, where vendors comfortably ensconced themselves under the main dome and
call buyers. You can buy here oriental sweets and aromatic spices, fruits,
melons, watermelons... The most interesting is to choose flat bread, because they
differ in both the shape and taste. In addition, you can try pilaf, kebabs,
samsa, and try to bargain with the sellers, says housewife Malika Babakulov.
Evidence of the ancient city
I recommend visit the
ancient city of Ming Urik, which finds a new life and enters the city’s
cultural life. Ancient city of Ming Urik, which is often mentioned in
historical documents as Chach was a major center of culture. According to
historical chronicles, its singers, musicians and dancers were famous far
beyond Chach. Chach was home for interior painting masters of the palaces and
great houses, medal art in this tows had reached a high level, as well as
manufacturing of dies for portrait prints, says famous scientist Margarita
Filanovich, leading archaeologist of Uzbekistan.
This is not the
whole list of places for curious visitors. By tradition, all guests visit the
Independence Square, Amir Temur Square, the nearby Museum of Timurids, water
park Tashkentlend, the zoo, botanical gardens...
