- We meet you not only as the acting Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE, but also as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and collaboration of Spain, with which the best and friendly relations were formed, said the leader of our country.

 It is known that in the OSCE alternately presides the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of member states. This is the first visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and collaboration of the Kingdom of Spain Miguel Angel Moratinos to Uzbekistan as the Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE.

The state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to Spain during January 2003 raised to the new level of the relation between our countries. Spain considers Uzbekistan as the leading country in the Central-Asian region.

As recognized management of this international organization, Uzbekistan, which became member of the OSCE in 1992, consecutively follows the path of strengthening safety and stability, development of democratic institutions and formation of civil community. Uzbekistan makes a worthy contribution to the many-sided and fruitful activity of this international organization. OSCE highly evaluates constructive collaboration with our country.

The acting Chairman-in-Office of OSCE noted that Central Asia plays the important role in the activity of this organization. Stability and effective control, together with the healthy economy and the developed civil society, in Uzbekistan are vitally important factors for providing the safety in the Eurasian and Transatlantic regions.

In the period of the chairmanship of Spain in OSCE as the priority directions are designated such issues, as the guarantee of safety and stability in the territory of member states, intensification of fighting against terrorism and extremism, providing ecological safety, further increase in the authority of this organization and others.

In the course of conversation in the residence of Oqsaroy took place the detailed exchange of opinions about the state and the prospects for the relations between Uzbekistan and OSCE.
