On the eve of Motherland Defenders Day, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov sent a festive Message of Congratulation to the military personnel of the country saying he highly evaluates the level of professionalism the National Armed Forces have accomplished due to the wide-scale reforms in the system. Today, of note is the fact that Uzbekistan has a national army that has made substantial achievements on its way to becoming a professional armed force. For over the past 15 years an enormous amount of work - both its scale and depth, has been carried out in Uzbekistan on building modern armed forces that meet the modern requirements and standards, forming a national army – a reliable guarantor of independence, security and territorial integrity, and sustainable and advancing democratic development of the country. Mentioning the achievements in this regard, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief outlined a range of remaining priorities in further reforming the national army.
