“Uzbekistan Today” has been informed that the Uzbekistan-LUKOIL Operating Company, a subsidiary of LUKOIL Overseas, has completed the construction of a temporary storage and waste management facility for drilling cuttings on the Khauzak and Shady blocks (Bukhara region) within the framework of implementation of the Kandym-Khauzak-Shady-Kungrad Product Sharing Agreement (PSA).

Country prioritizes investment for economic growth

Last year the volume of foreign investments attracted into national economy has grown by 20%. According to the data provided by the Ministry of Economy, in 2006 the foreign investment attracted into the economy of Uzbekistan under the Investment program equaled US$ 895,7 million or 120% comparing to the results of 2005. Comparing this data to 2000, this indicator seems even more impressive.

Silk production revitalized in Khorezm

After a ten-year break, silk cocoon processing has been brought back to life in Khorezm province, and new cocoon drying and processing lines have sprung up across the province. Starting from this year, the expected yields – almost 2000 tons of cocoons – will be processed locally, which will considerably augment the profits of this industry. Colleagues from Bukhara have been instrumental in helping revive the production.
