Over forty poultry factories and large poultry farms operate in the country today. Each of them grows from 50 thousand to one million birds. Existing poultry farms are equipped with modern chicken coops with sustained temperature and humidity, and automated water and food supply. Specialists intentionally work on advancing the breeds of birds to enhance quality of products. According to experts, the establishment of new poultry farms will empower growing more than 756,000 birds, produce an additional 66 million eggs and over 320 tones of dietary meat this year alone.

About four million chickens of Lohmann, Brown, Rhodonite, High Line, Shaver, Ros-308, Hubbard F15 and Cobb breeds are grown in the country to supply the market with eggs and dietary meat. 30.3 billion soums of bank loans and 17.2 billion soums of farm funds was allocated in 2011 to increase the production. 2,376 jobs were created. The total number of poultry and egg production increased by 15% in 2011.

“Poultry farming is an extremely profitable industry,” said Ulugbek Ismailov, Head of the Central Administration for Livestock, Poultry and Fish Farming Development of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Economy of Uzbekistan. “It is reimbursed in a short time and doesn’t require high costs. Suffice it to ensure the sustained room temperature and food supply in the required quantity. The operation of the leading companies like Toshkentparranda, Bukhoroparranda, Samarqandparranda and Honkaparranda is a good example of the efficiency of poultry production.”

Prior to January 1, 2012, poultry farms were granted privileges in tax and customs payments. As a result, large farms saved up to one billion soums, which was invested in extension of production. In particular, modern laboratories were established under enterprises to monitor the composition of fodder and various diseases. In late 2011, the validity of these privileges was extended until January 1, 2014, which has become another important step in the development of the industry.

The effectiveness of the industry is also enhanced through the modern technology application. For example, previously a hen started laying eggs in 150 days. Now this term has reduced by 50-53 days. 280 incubators were launched to increase the productivity, which yielded more than 11.5 million chickens. In accordance with the contracts they were delivered to new farms and to the population.

Quail farms have been launched to further develop the poultry farming in the country, the industrial production of therapeutic quail meat and eggs is being widely established. Certain poultry factories are currently being reequipped for turkey breeding, through which it is expected to increase the production of dietary meat. In turn, that will expand opportunities for establishment of turkey meat processing. Besides, the opening of chain stores of poultry factories is underway.
