Training on the upcoming forum marathon ‘In the Name
of Life!’ has come to a close.
The training for the organizing committee of the
project was chaired by Donna Sanderson, International Envoy of Susan G. Komen for
the Cure (USA).
She told about many years of the foundation’s experience and the project ‘Race
for the Cure’ in different countries. The participants exchanged views and mapped
out the further cooperation.
During the training representatives of the National Breast Cancer Association
‘In the Name of Life!’, Women's Council RPA and Fund Forum discussed the ways
of expanding the scope of the marathon, proposed new ideas on how to increase
the number of participants in the marathon and make it more interesting and
effective. They underlined the need to inform people of the charities of this
kind using billboards and Internet resources such as websites of the organizers
and popular social networks.
‘Race for the Cure’ marathons in each country have their own design of products
and t-shirts, the fees from the sale of which are spent for purchasing drugs
and diagnosis of women.
“Our organization is a global leader in fighting breast cancer,” says Donna Sanderson. “We organize marathons
in various countries every year. We have signed an agreement of cooperation
with the National Breast Cancer Association ‘In the name of Life’ in Uzbekistan this
year. I am sure our cooperation will be successful and fruitful since we have
common goals: to raise awareness on breast cancer, early diagnostics, and
cutting mortality. We are planning to hold a charity marathon in April-May, and
discuss our further cooperation in this sphere and joint organization of other
actions.”
The funds raised during the marathon are forwarded to
finance diagnostic actions and purchase the medicines needed.
