8,510 model-design
houses are to be built in Uzbekistan
this year.
The government
has approved a program of individual housing based on standard projects,
external engineering and transport communications facilities, social and market
infrastructure in rural areas for 2012.
In
particular, 8,510 standard-design houses will be built this year in all
regions, totaling over 1.2 million square meters of living area, a 15% increase
against the previous year. The top three regions are Tashkent (1,160 houses), Samarqand (900) and Qashqadaryo
(870). To ensure the normal functioning of new residential blocks, contractors
will also build 425.4 km
of water mains, 306.1 km
of roads, 259.8 km
and 374.7 km
of electric and gas networks.
In
addition, there will be also 10 schools, 26 rural health units, 80 guzars, 109
shopping malls, 42 markets, 90 bakeries, 47 consumer service centers, 33
mini-banks.
Since the
beginning of the rural housing development program, for over the past two years
Uzbekistan
has built more than 15 thousand rural comfortable houses. Last year alone, the
program resulted in 7,400 standard-design houses with a living area of 1.1
million square meters, whose construction attracted over 576 billion soums of
investments, including more than 63% from centralized sources and Qishloq
Qurilish Bank’s own funds.
In 2012, the
program will attract some 810 billion soums of capital investments. Experts
estimate until 2015 Uzbekistan
will channel around $2.2 billion toward construction of housing in rural areas.
This program also involves the funds of the Asian Development Bank, which
intends to invest $500 million, including $160 million this year.
