The national football team of Uzbekistan who
have completed the third qualification round for the World Cup 2014 with an
unexpected, and therefore particularly pleasing, away victory over Japan, went
into the next stage of qualification from the first place in Group C with five
wins and a draw in six matches.
Uzbekistan’s top tennis player Denis Istomin defeated
the world’s no.5 in the third round of BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

Wells, California, opening Masters Series 1000 for men and women’s Premier
Mandatory, along with tournaments following after them in Miami, are often called
the fifth and sixth tournaments of the Grand Slam: the same grid of seven rounds
(although all 32 seeded receive a direct pass to the second round), a very
impressive prize pool and a great number of top players.
Sports complex Jar in Tashkent
has gathered over 500 athletes for Uzbekistan’s championship in judo
among men and women. Isn’t this an evidence of the immense popularity of the
martial art in which the Uzbeks have made stunning progress in recent years.
