Olympic team have shown good shape before the upcoming match with Australian football players on February 5. Three meetings with strong and diverse teams have been very useful for Vadim Abramov’s wards. In the first match with Shakhtar FC, Donetsk, fulltime recorded a draw 1:1. Kenji Turaev opened the score in 43^rd minute, and Shkhtar’s international Luiz Adriano scored an equalizer on 52^nd min. And in the penalty shoot-out Uzbeks proved to be luckier (6:5). Their match against Russia’s "Rostov FC was even better as they defeated the opponents 1:0. It was Kenji Turaev’s goal again. This victory brought the team first place in the sub-group. Although the Uzbek Olympians lost St. Petersburg’s Zenit FC 0:5 in the final, the game with such a strong team as the champion of Russia was extremely helpful in preparation for the match against Australia.

Bunyodkor started the tournament against Zenit in the group stage. The Russian champion defeated the Uzbek champion 2:1. In the second match, Bunoydkor won the Swiss Xamax FC (the only goal scored by midfielder Bakhodir Pardaev in the 73^rd minute). This allowed Bunyodkor to play the match for third place, where the Uzbek champion won Shakhtar in the penalty shoot-outs 1:1 (5:4).
