Juniors Set Example
Five Uzbek tennis players in the Australian Open

Denis Istomin got in the main draw in singles and doubles, his team mate Farrukh Dustov and Akgul Amanmuradova played in qualifiers, while Sabina Sharipova and Temur Ismailov played in junior tournaments.
In singles, Istomin lost the first match against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA), world's sixth racket. In doubles, together with Flavio Cipolla (ITA) the Uzbek player won James Duckworth and Adam Feeney (both AUS) 6/2, 3/6, 7/6(5).
Farrukh Dustov played two three-set matches and gained a good experience in anticipation of away match against New Zealand in Melbourne as part of the Davis Cup. First, he defeated John-Patrick Smith (AUS) 6/7(5), 6/4, 6/3. And in the second match he gave up to 31-year-old Rick De Vesta from South Africa 7/6(4), 3/6, 1/6.
Amanmuradova lost in singles to Madalina Gojna (ROM), and paired with a Ukrainian Mariya Koryttseva in doubles she lost to Iveta Benesova and Barbora Strycova (both SZE) No10. Sabina Sharipova is 12th seeded in the junior tournament, where she already passed three rounds, beating Jesika Maleckova (SZE) 6/0, 2/6, 6/4, Georgiana Ruhrig (AUS) 6/0, 6/2 and Samantha Crawford (USA) 7/5, 6/1. Moreover, she played well in doubles together with Anna Schmiedlova (SVK) as they’ve won two matches.
Ismailov lost in singles to Mackenzie McDonald (USA) 1/6, 6/7(2). In doubles, paired with Marcus Kalovelonis (GRE) he passed to the second round.
