The Council of the parliament’s
upper house adopted a resolution on convening the fourth plenary session of the
Senate on 3-4 December. The main issue on the agenda of the upcoming session is
the enhancement of the role of Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis and local
representative authorities in democratic renovation and renewal of the republic
within the Conception of further deepening the reforms and formation of
democratic society in the country.
At the initiative of the UzLiDeP parliamentary
faction, the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis has reviewed the execution of
the action plan for implementation of the crucial projects in upgrade, technical
and technological extension of production for 2009-2014.
The pressing issues of water resources management
in Uzbekistan have been highlighted in a panel discussion arranged by the
Committee for Agriculture, Water Economy and Ecology, Senate of Oliy Majlis at

Upper house analyzes participation of local councils
in implementing the anti crisis program
Council of the
Senate of Oliy Majlis discussed the implementation of the Resolution of the
Senate of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan of 5 December, 2009 on
implementation of the Resolution of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of the Republic
of Uzbekistan of 27 March, 2009 on the role and responsibility of local
authorities for absolute implementation of the anti crisis program for 2009-2012.
In the first
reading the Legislative Chamber considered the new draft laws targeted at the
further deepening of reforms in political and socioeconomic spheres,
improvement of the current legislation to guarantee citizens’ rights and legal
interests.
Committee on Science, Education, Culture and
Sports of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis organized a conference on
innovative collaboration of science and industry in the road transport sector.
At the last parliamentary week members of
parliament discussed new legislative initiatives with experts. National
deputies believe such a dialogue improves the quality of adopted laws, improves
procedural mechanisms in particular spheres.
