For development of alternative energy
The parliamentary faction of Adolat Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan jointly with Uzbekenergo held a panel discussion on conceptual trends of the development of renewable energy sources (RES).
As noted at the meeting, Uzbekistan possesses a well-established scientific and technological base for scaled use of renewable energy. The participants demonstrated the specific examples of high efficiency of the use of renewable energy sources and domestically developed products, which are widely recognized outside the country. They took interest in the report of the Board Director of Uzbekenergo on conceptual directions of the development and use of renewable energy sources. In comparison to the fuel energy the experts analyzed the development of technologies and equipment on renewable energy, hydropower resources, solar and wind power systems, and combined systems of renewable energy. The company vividly exemplified its achievements in the use of renewable energy. It demonstrated the successfully operating wind power plant with the capacity of 750 kW in the area of the Chorvoq reservoir, solar collectors and panels for heat and electricity production in Tashkent, Samarqand, Navoi, and other regions. In general, Uzbekistan operates more than 150 plants for heat and energy supply based on renewable energy.
Lawmakers and scientists pointed out just certain and irregular practical steps on creation of new, unique technologies and innovative products though there is a package of regulatory documents regulating the relations in the use of renewable energy sources. This is largely conditioned by the lack of proper regulatory base and motivation for the development of ecologically clean energy. At the same time, the relatively low prices for traditional energy make renewable energy economically unattractive.
Upon the discussions they proposed recommendations on the development of alternative energy and improvement of legislation in this area.
