Baku hosted the National Exhibition of Uzbekistan, which was attended by
heads of ministries and departments, MPs, heads of diplomatic missions
accredited in this country.
In his welcome speech, Yaqub
Eyyubov, First Deputy Prime Minister placed a particular emphasis on the
present level of the Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations citing the parties’ active
cooperation, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
“The idea of the exhibition belongs
to the presidents of two countries, it is based on a solid decision of the
leaders of Uzbekistan
and Azerbaijan
to lift trade and economic relations to a qualitatively new level”, he said.
The exhibition features more than 3
thousand kinds of products produced by 300 enterprises of Uzbekistan in
various industries. In general, the exhibition was of multisectoral nature and
provided a good opportunity for business circles of Azerbaijan to get directly
acquainted with the products and services of the leading enterprises with
different types of ownership, and arrange a direct dialogue with potential
partners. Topical sections of the exposition met priorities in the development
of partnership between the two countries.
Along with the production of the automotive
industry, textile industry, agriculture the exhibition featured information and
communication technologies of Uzbekistan.
For example, Uzbektelecom joint
stock company - the largest telecoms operator in Uzbekistan - presented a wide
range of services: channels for lease to operators and providers of fixed and
mobile communications, data communications, all types of voice and data exchange,
Internet access, videoconferencing , mobile communications services in CDMA.
After getting acquainted with presented
products and domestic developments in information technology, the Deputy
Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Yakub Veli-zade
expressed a desire to carry out joint projects on development of the ICT sector
in Azerbaijan
and Uzbekistan.
Artur Rasi-zade, Prime Minister of
Azerbaijan, who visited the exhibition, expressed confidence that it would
implement new projects benefiting the Uzbek and Azerbaijani peoples. Voicing
his assessment of the Uzbek-Azerbaijan relations, he stressed that “they are an
example of what should be the connection between true brotherly countries.
Today we must make efforts to the potential that exists in countries that used
to expand economic relations”.
