A meeting of the
Japan-Uzbekistan Association was held in Japan to evaluate the Association’s
year-end and the prospects of cooperation in 2011. It was attended by members
of the Japanese parliament, representatives of political, academic and business
circles of Japan.
Talking about the Association’s activities, its chairman Nhiko Shima
said that Uzbekistan, where
historically the Buddhist religion has developed, and through the Great Silk Road
reached Japan,
is of great interest for the Japanese. In this regard, several events has
organized in 2010, familiarizing the Japanese public with the culture, history
and traditions of the Uzbek people.
Takahisha Cavano, Executive Director of the Association, said that in
order to popularize the ancient history and rich culture of the Uzbek people,
as well as a demonstrate of tourist potential of Uzbekistan the Association
together with the Uzbek Embassy in Japan held the first exam on Uzbekistan on
the basis of the book- textbook “The Great Silk Road of Central Asia”. He noted
that the book is a unique publication, which provides detailed information
about Uzbekistan.
Kintaro Kato, member of the Japan-Uzbekistan Friendship Association said
that their association is a conductor of
public diplomacy. Its various activities
and exhibitions serve further promotion of Uzbekistan
in Japan and an increase in
tourist flow to the centers of the Silk Road - Samarkand,
Bukhara and
Khiva.
During the event an exhibition of applied arts in Uzbekistan was held, revealing the ancient
history and rich culture of Uzbekistan.
