Aziz Tuhtaev, UT

To increase the effectiveness of cancer treatment The Ministry of Healthcare of Uzbekistan started the next set of measures for the development of radiotherapy services.
“Recently the Karakalpakstan and Namangan Cancer Centers will receive new sources of cobalt radiation machines for radiotherapy treatment,” said Sarimbek Navruzov, the director of the National Cancer Research Center. “The same machines will be delivered in the near future to Samarqand and Khorazm regions. Thus, the conditions for widespread use of radiotherapy will be created in the 12 regional cancer Centers of the republic.”
“Obtaining of a new machine is a part of the complex of measures for the development of new methods of chemotherapy and surgical treatment,” said Muyassar Ergasheva, the chief doctor of the Namangan regional oncologic dispensary. “It will greatly expand our opportunities. Virtually all residents of the region will be able to receive the radiotherapy treatment at our dispensary.”
According to Sarimbek Navruzov, the country will carry out the technical upgrading and expansion of radiotherapy services in the regions till 2013. The latest generation of devices for all 14 cancer clinics of the country will be purchased.
New machines will be purchased for the National Cancer Research Center. Today its clinic performs the largest part of radiotherapy procedures in the country.
