Vigorous efforts to step up investment
cooperation
A group of representatives of
Korean companies and public joint stock companies operating in Uzbekistan,
among which Samsung Electronics, Shinhan Bank, KNOC, KOGAS, KT and others, will
be in the FIEZ on a two-day visit.
A group of 30 businessmen will be accompanied by the Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Korea in Uzbekistan Jong Dae Wang. Having
assumed his duties a year ago, the head of the diplomatic mission said: “The
priority in my work is to develop mutual economic and trade cooperation. In
this regard, the visit aimed at familiarizing with opportunities created by the
FIEZ for foreign investors. Since the South Korean side intends to intensify
efforts to expand investment cooperation with Uzbekistan,
businessmen will view the FIEZ, Navoi
Airport and a complex
being built in the city”.
We should recall that special customs, currency and tax rules, a
simplified procedure for entry, stay and departure as well as obtaining work permission
for non-resident citizens of Uzbekistan
will operate for 30 years in the FIEZ. Tax incentives will be applied with a
minimum investment of 3m euros.
It should also be noted that the amount of South Korean investment in Uzbekistan
exceeded $2 billion. Experts predict $5 billion after the implementation of
agreements reached during President Islam Karimov’s visit to the South Korea
in 2010.
