In Paris, a briefing was organized by the France-Central
Asia Senatorial Friendship Group in the French Senate. The event was devoted to
modern development of Uzbekistan.
French expert community was thoroughly acquainted with the priorities of
further deepening of the democratic and economic reforms in the country. It was
noted that Uzbekistan’s
strategic goal is to build a democratic state with rule of law and formation of
a strong civil society, deepening market reforms, sustainable development,
peace and stability in the region of Central Asia.
Opening the briefing, Chairman of the France-Central Asia Friendship Group
Andre Dule said that “the current event is held to celebrate the 20th
Anniversary of the Independence of Uzbekistan. Over the years, the country
achieved these results in relation to which the developed democratic countries
have spent many, many decades”. The senator stressed that a particular attention
should be paid to the policy of reforming in Uzbekistan, by which it was
possible to achieve tangible results in the social and economic development.
According to Special Representative of the President of France to Central Asia, Deputy Chairman of the Group of Friendship
France-Central Asia Aymeri de Montesquieu, “the establishment of a
well-functioning bicameral parliament, receiving well-developed legislation,
has allowed creating a solid legal framework for the normal functioning of
state institutions”.
Deputy Chairman of the French Senate on financial matters Joel Burden
drew a particular attention to the ongoing economic policy in Uzbekistan. “it is especially
commendable indications to curb inflationary pressures in the period of crisis
for the global economy and finance. Maintaining inflation within the planned
state budget range worthy of serious recognition of the international community”,
he stressed.
The French financier also said that Uzbekistan has created a favorable
business climate for small business development and entrepreneurship.
Achievement of its share in GDP at 52.5% by the end of 2010 demonstrates the
progressive public policy for the sector.
