Eminent Uzbek poet created great number of
monumental products on the eternal theme of lofty sentiments and feelings. It
appears that the life itself of Alisher Navoi even brighter than any literary
creation can disclose a beautiful and tragic legend on love that served as a
basis for the personal exposition of the Honored Worker of Art of Uzbekistan Nikolay
Shin.

Nikolay
Shin was a talented artist, honorary member of the Academy
of Arts of Uzbekistan,
as well as owner of the order “Do’stlik” of the Republic
of Uzbekistan and order “Golden Star”
of Korea.
He was ace in various styles of fine art and therefore could masterly express
his creative intentions through the works he created. In his products it is
possible to see elements of many directions of the art – from realism to
abstractionism where the experience of the eastern and western cultures is
harmoniously combined.
The exposition of Nikolay Shin entitled as “Love Legend”
opened in the Gallery of Fine Art of Uzbekistan and organized by the artist’s
children hugely impressed numerous visitors.
“Father always admired of the creativity of Alisher Navoi.
Getting acquainted with the history of the poet’s life, he got an inspiration
from it and within a short period of time created about forty works all of
which are presented in the current exposition,” noted Vladimir, son of Nikolay
Shin.
The author created this collection in the 60-70s of the
last year that included a series of picturesque and graphic products describing
Alisher Navoi’s love. In these products the artists managed to fully reflect
that exciting history by means of the fine art. In one of the works Alisher
Navoi depicted together with his childhood friend Husayin Boyqaro. Another
canvas depicts the meeting of Navoi with beautiful Guli to whom, according to
the legend, he fell in love at first sight. The girl was a daughter of an
ordinary weaver. And he was amazed when an influential statesman asked to marry
his daughter. But shortly after it, Husayin Boyqaro took Guli to wife where she
at the hopeless situation decided to take a poison and died.
Broken-hearted Alisher Navoi never married, remaining alone
and devoting his lyrical products to his lost beloved.
In one of the works Nikolay Shin depicted as the spirit of
Guli appears in front of the suffering poet who kept her forever in his heart.
“Great love for life and origins of our nation rather
subtly and tenderly is reflected in works of Nikolay Shin,” admits People’s
Artist of Uzbekistan, academician Bakhodir Jalolov, Professor at the Monumental Art Department
of the Kamoliddin Behzod National Institute of Arts and Design. “The exposition
turns rather attractive because the talented artist was capable masterly reveal
the theme of love by addressing to the rich heritage of the Uzbek people.”
