Uliana Trofimova won a bronze medal in the
ribbon exercise at the first round of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Grand Prix, held
in “Drujba” Universal Sports Hall, Moscow.
Achievements of the talented Uzbek athlete are growing from tournament
to tournament. In November, she became a double silver medalist at the 16th
Asian Games. At the recent open championship of Russia in Samara, just like as in Guangzhou, she was second
in all-around events, only losing to Olympic champion Evgenia Kanaeva, and was
first in the ribbon exercise. This, quite tricky tool has brought her success in
Moscow as well - only Yevgenia Kanaeva and a new member of Russia team, winner
of last year's Junior Olympics Aleksandra Merkulova scored more points than
Uliana.
“We have Anna Alyab’eva from Kazakhstan, Uliana Troimova from Uzbekistan, Aliya
Garayeva from Azerbaijan,
another girl from Korea
training in our team. I would like these girls to also show high results,
because we need competition, it is necessary that gymnastics was recognized
worldwide as a very beautiful sport, bordering with art,” said the head coach
of Russia Irina Viner.
