The Republican
Interethnic Cultural
Center (RICC) turns 20.
Today, the RICC coordinates the work of more than 150 national cultural
centers.
The
Armenian National Cultural center unites regional units in Tashkent, Samarqand and Andijon. The
outstanding worker of culture of Uzbekistan and founder of the
singing-dancing genre Tamara-khanum went the inspiration for creation of it 23
years ago.
Student of
People’s Artists Usto Olim Komilov and Mukhitdin Qori-Yoqubov she was one of
the first women in the region who performed on the professional scene. In 1924 in the play Farhod and
Shirin devoted to the 500th anniversary of Alisher Navoi she made
her first dramatic lead.
“Tamara Artyomovna
Petrosyan never forgot about her Armenian roots, and today, the Armenian Cultural Center
organizes various events in her museum-house,” tells Georgiy Saakov, the
editor-in-chief of the magazine of Armenians in Uzbekistan Depi Apaga. “Traditionally
in the days of birth of Tamara-khanum and Alisher Navoi young artists recite
with inspiration the creation of the poet telling about love of Farhod for the
princess Shirin. The main personages of the cultural center are people. Founder
of the orchestra of national instruments Ashot Petrosyantz, announcer at the
Uzbek television and radio company Mikhail Azatiyan, director of the Samarqand
Theater of Drama Emma Mirzaeva and many others keep contributing to the
development of economy and culture of Uzbekistan. A whole younger
generation is being fostered on their example.”
All
beginnings and achievements of the center are linked with the youth for which
all conditions are created for they can learn their mother tongue, Armenian
national traditions in the dancing studio Urartu, art studio Arvest, singing
studio Akhpyur and drama art studio Dar operating under the center. Having
acquired certain skills, young singers and dancers are turned the bearers of
the Armenian culture representing it various events dedicated to the
celebration of state holidays of Uzbekistan. They participate in
traditional festival of culture Uzbekistan Is Our Common Home, city and
republican actions that contribute strengthening interethnic consent.
“Where
peace and order reigns cotton blossoms there. This is an old Armenian saying
has a direct relation to Uzbekistan.
Not only as to one of the major manufacturers of cotton fiber. The history
proves that only strong people can be tolerant. For many centuries the Uzbek
people, fostered by rich traditions of great forefathers, unite in their soil
various nationalities and ethnic minorities in peace and tolerance. Today, the
cultural center plays rather important role in acquainting local Armenians with
national traditions afar from historical motherland and providing live link of
times.”
