New approaches to
treatment of cognitive abnormalities

Absentmindedness, loss of memory and mood, fall of reaction speed and
other derangement of intellectual functions are the ground for neurologists to
assign a patient to an in-depth examination. Meanwhile, these states became the
ground for the next conference of experts, where they discussed new approaches
to treatment of various diseases of the central nervous system. According to specialists,
it's time for innovation, the more so because regional medical associations and
regional medical centers with neurology departments are providing all necessary
conditions for that.
It might seem that the diagnosis of cognitive disorders does not require
expensive diagnostic equipment, and it is enough just to monitor the patient.
However, it is such modern methods of examination as magnetic resonance and
computed tomography that prove the efficiency of new drugs in one or another
disease. Thus, the majority of presentations by leading domestic and Russian
experts at the conference were dedicated to the results of these studies.
“This information is absolutely necessary,” emphasized Bakhtiyor Gafurov, Chairman, Public
Association of Neurologists of Uzbekistan. “Profound knowledge on the effects
of drugs can help to avoid the simultaneous prescription of drugs with similar
therapeutic action, and improve quality of treatment. Informing about the
outcomes of the latest research was the main reason why we brought the practitioners
together in cooperation with the Tashkent Institute of Postgraduate Medical Studies
this time.”
A competent medical correction of vascular diseases, cancer processes,
injuries and their consequences, spinal hernias and other pathologies of central
nervous system may significantly improve the state of a patient and his
intellectual abilities. State standards for diagnosis and treatment were
designed to help physicians with this task. Therefore, the issues of their practical
application were at the specialists’ focus as well.
Modern opportunities of neurosurgery are another aspect of speakers’
attention. This branch of medicine has generated many methodologies over the
recent years that may save a patient from the need for lifelong use of drugs in
case if he addresses a doctor in time. For example, doctors of republican
centers developed angiographic interventions, clearing operations on blood
vessels, operations on reduction of the frequency of epileptic seizures and
other methods of treatment.
Now it’s time to practically apply all what have been mentioned above.
