Specialized Boarding School of Advanced Linguistics ¹62 in Quva
district, Farghona region, publishes a monthly student’s newspaper Iqtidor
(Talent) which for two years of existence has become an important element of
teaching infrastructure of the education institution.
The
newspaper is published by a hobby club supervised by a teacher of Uzbek
language Nargiza Ergasheva. Four-page newspaper’s editor-in-chief is the ninth
grader Akmal Qurbonov. Designing and printing of the newspaper is made in the
school’s informatics room.
“Many
students of high classes with philological bias are getting engaged in publication
of a school newspaper,” says the headmaster of the school Holisakhon Usmonova.
“This is a platform for them where they learn expressing their ideas and
demonstrating their creative abilities. In the newspaper we have quite many
bold articles that make us, teachers, to think over how to make a teaching
process more interesting and involving.”
“Basically
we write about the school life: we organize lots of contests, quizzes, evenings
of amateur activities, as well as meetings with renowned people and graduates
of the school,” says Akmal Qurbonov. “We also publish address of teachers to
students. We also share place in the newspaper for the ideas of students and
thoughts on different topics. We publish verses and prose written by students. Pages
with crosswords made up by members of editorial team are also quite popular
with students.”
“We believe
our newspaper would prepare future professional journalists,” shares her hopes
Holisakhon Usmonova. “Some articles from the Iqtidor have already been
republished in the district newspaper Quva Hayoti (Life of Quva).”
