opera and other works by the outstanding Azerbaijani composer Uzeir Gadjibekov
have gained major general acceptance and popularity across the globe. It is
noteworthy that they are linked with the names of a number of generations of
venerable masters in Uzbekistan
who left indelible mark in the history of opera and music art with their
virtuous execution. Unforgettable music recalling the history of true love and
great talent sounded from the scene of Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi
Theater where the evening dedicated to the jubilee took place.
Tashkent has hosted festive events dedicated to the 70th
jubilee of Uspenskiy Republican Specialized Music Academic Lyceum (“Uspenka”),
one of the oldest educational institutions in Uzbekistan.

Ogahiy is one of the brightest representatives of social activity, science and
literature of Khorazm of the 19th century. This year sees the second centenary
of his birth. A talented writer, historian and translator, he left rich
creative legacy that has played a considerable role in the development of a
school of translators and chroniclers.

Modern embroiderers utilize ancient traditions of sewing

Exhibition “Traditional
Embroidery of Uzbekistan”
is to open at art-gallery Caravan-One on November 16, 2009. Every region of the
country has its special features in embroidery, ceramics and cuisine that have
been formed through centuries. Tashkent residents and its guests will have a
good chance to get acquainted with masterpieces of embroiderers from all across
Uzbekistan, compare and appraise the works displayed.
The
Palace of Youth Creativity has served as a venue for the awarding ceremony of
prize winners of the 5th Tashkent international biennale of contemporary art
“Urban Philosophy: Anthropological Landscape” that took place within the Art
Week organized by the Foundation “Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan”, the
Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan in cooperation with Tashkent city administration
and UNESCO Office in Tashkent.
