By 2010 Uzbekistan will have increased coal production by three times, states a special governmental program that is implemented in the country. Uzbekistan intends to use coal instead of natural gas in power stations. At present the Angren and New Angren fuel and energy stations are conveniently located in the area of coal deposits, but currently both of them use natural gas and black oil for power generation. To transfer these generating complexes from natural gas to coal requires additional investment.

The percentage of attracted foreign investment to Uzbekistan in 2006 has risen by 20% against 2005, and has totaled US$ 895,7 million, according to the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan.
