A network of professional skating rinks may appear in Uzbekistan in the near future for development of various kinds of ice sports.
Representative of the Association of Winter Sports of Uzbekistan, Evgeny Rokhin told about that to Uzbekistan Today in details.
“To date, the country has two skating rinks, including one operating all year round. However, both of these structures are more designed for entertainment, although used by athletes for training. In particular, the rink in the Furkat Park is not only a training place for young skaters, but hockey players as well.
The Winter Sports Association is working out construction of a professional rink (30 by 60 meters) in Tashkent. That will contribute to figure skating and ice hockey. It is planned to train our athletes of the speed skating short track in Uzbekistan. To date, three out athletes are preparing to competitions in Chimkent Region of Kazakhstan.”
