Who will continue the work of Artur Taymazov?

Last year, the most titled wrestler, Arthur Tajmazov, did not change his mind about participating in big competitions. Meanwhile, the team traveled to Minsk for training camps and participated in an international tournament for the prizes of Alexander Medved.

Does the Wrestling Association of Uzbekistan have a "second" Tajmazov, who can repeat the success of the triple Olympic champion? There is no answer yet, as preliminaries for the main game are ahead. However, the coaching staff has hopes for young people, who in recent years have shown good results in the World Championships as well as the last Asian Games.

Uzbekistan Today correspondent interviewd the press-secretary of the Association of Wrestling of Uzbekistan, Ruslan Valiullin.

 - At the end of 2013 there were amendements in the weight categories for the Games-2016. There will be six categories - instead of the previous seven. Therefore, at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, athletes will compete in the following weights : 57 , 65 , 74 , 86 , 97 and 125 kg.

World Championship 2015 in Las Vegas, which was held on September 7-12 was the first qualifying start, where six of the best fighters in six of the eight weight categories received the first Olympic license in this sport. Ihtiyor Navruzov was awarded silver in the weight category 65 kg, respectively, got a license.

There are still three starts ahead, where our athletes can replenish the number of licenses for this type of wrestling. The first such tournament is the Asian Olympic qualifying tournament to be held in March in Astana. Those who take 1-2 place in these competitions will be able to obtain a license. It is worth mentioning that the Continental Championships 2016, will not provide licenses. Last chance to get to the Olympics will be given during the two world qualification tournaments. The first one will be held in Ulan Bator (Mongolia) in April, the second - in Istanbul (Turkey) in May.

Minsk is one of the stages of preparation for the important competition. Young and experienced athletes were delegated there. Among them are Nodirzhon Safarov, Abbos Rakhmanov (both - 57 kg), Ikhtiyor Navruzov (70 kg), Bekzod Abdurakhmanov (74 kg) , Umid Ismanov, Soslan Tigiev (both - 86 kg), Husanboy Rakhimov, Magomed Ibragimov (both 97 kg), Hasanboy Rakhimov (125 kg).
