Samvel Babayan: “Match vs South Korea will show how prepared we are”

Before the opening match of the Asian Championship U-23 in Qatar, the head coach Samvel Babayan of the Olympic team of Uzbekistan, expressed his opinion about the tournament as a whole.

"The upcoming Asian Championship in Qatar, will be very interesting, as all the teams are prepared for it at the proper level. This tournament will be a revelation for the whole of Asia, because the players involved in this championship are the future of the whole Asian football, " Babayan told the press service of FFU.

According to him, the national team of Uzbekistan will be competing among the most challenging group. Thus, the team will assess their strength against the backdrop of high level opponents.

"I think that one of the teams in our group will definitely get into the top three and thus win a ticket to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro," said Babayan. The head coach also shared some aspects that are given special consideration in the preparation for the tournament. According to the coach, he managed to build the team spirit over the month of preparation and they are ready to compete in the right philosophical mindset.

"Physical training - is one of the components of the game, which at the present stage of development of football is a must. Anyone who is not physically ready will never win. For this reason, we pay great attention to this component. I hope that we have the strength to stand against and win over serious opponents,” he said.

"The first match versus South Korea will show just how prepared we are for the rest of the Championship. The team played a series of friendly matches, which helped to identify our strengths and weaknesses, but official matches differ significantly from the friendly matches, " adds Babayan.
