Members of the Uzbekistan national team to date in a fair fight for Olympic medals stand without annoying gaps. First medals have been won by judokas.

In the article dedicated to our athletes participating in Rio competitions, we wrote that Diyorbek Urozbaev has all the chances to win a medal on the first day of the Olympic Games. Performing in the weight category up to 60 kg, in the match for the bronze medal of the Olympics 2016 in Rio de Janeiro Diyorbek Urozbaev took over Georgian Amiran Papinashvili.

Judokas continue to delight with medals in the second day of the Olympic Games. Rishod Sobirov defeated Adrian Gomboc from Slovenia, and won a bronze medal. Uzbek judoka became a three-time Olympic bronze medalist.

Uzbekistan boxers also show a great start. Khurshid Tadjibaev and Shahram Giyasov confidently defeated their rivals Hakan Eresker of Qatar and Yuoba Sissokho of Spain and will continue to fight for Olympic medals in the 1/8 finals. Uzbekistan in the boxing competitions is represented in 10 weight categories.
