Today, the sports delegation of Uzbekistan is moving into the Olympic Village in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where the Uzbek athletes arrived on a charter flight of the Uzbekistan Airways National Air Company.
At this year Olympic Games athletes of Uzbekistan will compete in various sports, including rowing, gymnastics, rowing, kayaking and canoeing, boxing, judo, track and weightlifting, gymnastics, table tennis, swimming, taekwondo (WTF), tennis, trampoline, shooting, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.
“By participating in such prestigious competitions as the Olympic Games, every athlete wants to live up to its promise,” said Zohid Kenjaev, member of the Uzbekistan national team in table tennis. “This feeling gives us strength and faith. We will try to worthily perform at the Olympic Games, and to justify the confidence of our people.”
“The achievements of our athletes are the result of well-established system, based on which talented young people get fostered,” emphasizes the head coach of Uzbekistan Taekwondo team, Alexander Kim. “We believe that our athletes will demonstrate their full potential at the 31st Summer Olympic Games, and will be awarded the highest honors.”
“For us, the athletes, is a great happiness to raise high our flag,” Yekaterina Voronina, member of the Uzbekistan national team in athletics says. “We will make every effort and use all the potential to win.”
