The athletes have returned from the international tournament in Slovenia, where they could get a ticket to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Despite the 10 medals the team has no license. What's the matter? The correspondent of Uzbekistan Today addressed with this question to Alisher Ganiev, Secretary General of the Federation of swimming.
- This start was important to us as the preparatory one. Coaches examined the athletes and identified the program of training camps, which will be held at the sports bases in Uzbekistan, for them. And we hope that this will be enough to each of them to be able to win a license at the upcoming license starts at the Russian Championship, the Kazakhstan Open, and the competitions in Luxembourg.
Our athletes have fulfilled the task set before them by the coaches prior to the trip to Slovenia. And they did it well.
Khurshid Tursunov and Vladislav Mustafin back as two-time champions; Alexey Derlyugov finished performance with one gold medal. Daniil Tulupov has two medals: silver – in 50 meters freestyle and bronze – in 100 meters freestyle.
We were pleased with the youth we entered into the adult team. Nurullo Gulyamkadirov overcame 200-meter butterfly the second, and Alexey Tarasenko was the third in 200 meters freestyle. Not bad made Yegor Bolotov. In this Olympic race they are not involved, and in the next, I think, will make a worthy competition to the members of the current staff.
As yet we have only two licenses, the both of Rano Omanova. We do everything to make other swimmers to go to the Olympics.
