Iranian team coach about the game with Uzbekistan: “They were able to do what others could not”

After winning gold medals in Asian Futsal Championship, held in Tashkent, the head coach of Iran’s team Mohammad Nazemalshari stated that the decisive game with Uzbekistan was the only one in the tournament, where he was seriously worried for the outcome.

Throughout the tournament Iranians literally swept away rivals out of the way. Statistics speak for themselves. Before the final match with Uzbekistan Iranians banked 42 goals in each game ensuring the outcome of each match even before the end of the first half.

In the final, Uzbekistan became the only team in the tournament, which showed decent opposition to the champions. For the first time the Iranian team struggled to catch-up, and if wasn’t for the weakness in delivery and frequent breaks in the passing of our players, the final score could easily have been in favor of the national team of Uzbekistan. As a result, the disappointing defeat - 2:1.

"Uzbekistan played very well, but we were better. It was the only game in the tournament, where we were seriously worried for the outcome. Uzbek players were able to do what others could not – they made us nervous, "- admitted Nazemalshari.

"I am proud of my players. They all had a great tournament, and forced the Iranians to worry until the last second of the match. Now I am very tired and it is difficult to say what we did not have, but I think in the next few days we will gather together and analyze our game, to continue to improve it ", - said the coach of Uzbekistan Jose Maria Mendez.

However, he named one of the factors that had a negative impact on the game in the final match - it is tiredness. According to him, all the games Iran managed quite easily and they effortlessly defeated rivals. In turn, the national team of Uzbekistan has put a lot of effort in the play-offs, especially with Thailand and Iraq. As a result, in the second half of the final Uzbek players were physically very tired, which did not allow them to "squeeze" the opponent at the end of the match and level the score.

"Before the game I told my players how important it is to stop the Iranian players in the first five minutes. It was during that time, they defeated their rivals. And we have succeeded at that. Not only we stopped their attack, but also scored. Uzbekistan then missed a great chance to beat Iran. However, in these games the team cannot afford to lose concentration. Let's think about how to avoid this in Colombia, "- said Mendez.
