Uzbekistan has been attaching importance to the development of physical culture and sports as an essential component of upbringing a comprehensively advanced generation. As a result, boxing has been developing dynamically like many other sports. Today, the athletes of the Uzbek boxing school take high bars at all prestigious world competitions - the Olympic and Asian Games, world and continental championships, proving superiority.
The sports season of 2016 has been rich in victories for our boxers. They showed high level and skills at the 31st Summer Olympic Games in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, winning three gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
The boxer Hasanboy Dusmatov in the weight category under 49 kilograms, brought the first gold medal for the Olympic Games sports delegation of Uzbekistan. He was the first Uzbek boxer to claim the Val Barker Throphy as the best boxer of the Olympic Games.
At recent AIBA’s voting, Hasanboy Dusmatov outstripped by a wide margin the Cuban Robeisy Ramirez and Kazakh Daniyar Yeleussinov.
At the ceremony in the Swiss city of Lausanne, Hasanboy Dusmatov was awarded the prize ‘The Year’s Top Boxer’ at the meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Amateur Boxing Association on the occasion of its 70th anniversary.
