Uzbekistan and Afghanistan signed a number of documents

Uzbekistan and Afghanistan agreed to establish a commission on security issues, the opening of a consulate of Afghanistan in Termez, the construction of a power transmission line and a railway in Afghanistan.

According to the results of the talks between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, as well as the delegations of the two countries, 20 documents were signed at the Kuksaroy residence, UzA reported. The heads of the two states also adopted a joint statement.

"During the negotiations in a narrow circle, we reached agreements on many very important, including sensitive areas," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at a press conference.

He called the visit of the head of Afghanistan to Uzbekistan historical. "Today's visit has laid a strong foundation for fulfilling the desires and aspirations of our peoples. I once again salute the dear friend, the President of Afghanistan, Mr. Ashraf Ghani in Uzbekistan," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said, expressing confidence that from now on there will be more mutual visits.

The parties signed a protocol on the formation of a joint commission for cooperation in the security sphere between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. According to the President of Uzbekistan, this commission was given the authority to give recommendations and proposals to the heads of the two states.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also announced an agreement on the opening of the consulate of Afghanistan in the city of Termez.
Special attention was paid to the development of transport and energy infrastructure. "Specialists of Uzbekistan are implementing the project of construction of the Surkhan - Puli Khumri transmission line. We also signed an agreement on the construction of the Mazar-i-Sharif-Shibirgan-Maymana-Herat railway," the President of Uzbekistan said.

"These two documents are of great historical significance," he stressed. To speed up the development of these documents, a special commission has been set up and responsible persons have been identified from both the Uzbek and Afghan sides.
Mohammad Ashraf Ghani expressed his gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan "for the faith that you are investing in the future, prosperity and stability of my country - Afghanistan".

He congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his first anniversary as president and on the 26th anniversary of Uzbekistan's state independence. "Over the past 26 years, Uzbekistan has made great strides, and over the past year you have given a new impetus, which can be called unprecedented," said the leader of Afghanistan.

Mohammad Ashraf Ghani welcomed the position of Uzbekistan on the development of regional cooperation, including with Afghanistan.
"Your position that cooperation is much more beneficial than disagreement means progress and prosperity for all our citizens who are truly brothers and sisters," he stressed.
Mohammad Ashraf Ghani also invited Shavkat Mirziyoyev to visit Afghanistan on an official visit.
According to UzA, within the framework of the visit more than 40 export contracts were signed for a total amount of over $ 500 million.
