Uzbek Vice PM, Vietnamese President hold negotiations

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan Zoyir Mirzaev held negotiations with the President of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang.

According to the Vietnamese media, the meeting was held in Hanoi on 9 February 2017.

Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang said that Vietnam and Uzbekistan should fully tap their cooperation potential to boost bilateral ties in various fields for mutual interests, state media has reported.

Tran Dai Quang suggested the two sides work out measures to boost two-way trade, which stood at US$37.42 million in 2016, via the intergovernmental committee on economic-trade and science-technology cooperation.

Quang also recommended stepping up affiliation in specific realms such as garment-textile, footwear, cotton and fiber production, farm produce, seafood, plant varieties, animal breeding, and oil and gas. Vietnam and Uzbekistan should expand cooperation in culture, tourism, and education-training, he said.

Mr. Zoyir Mirzaev said Uzbekistan wants to enhance cooperation with Vietnam in politics, economics, trade and investment, specifically in cultivation, processing and exporting farm produce, footwear and apparel products, he added.

Uzbek Vice Prime Minister handed the letter of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to President Quang to invite the Vietnamese head to visit to Uzbekistan.
