The delegation of Uzbekistan headed by First Deputy Defense Minister - Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Major-General Pavel Ergashev visited Afghanistan, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.
In Kabul, the Uzbek delegation participated in the annual conference of the chiefs of general staffs of the armies of Central and
South Asia, which was also attended by representatives of the US/NATO Mission "Strong Support", as well as heads of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. Among the main topics on the agenda of the conference were issues of joint struggle against international terrorism and drug smuggling.
According to the Uzbek Embassy in Afghanistan, during the visit, the delegation was received by the President of Afghanistan, Muhammad Ashraf Ghani. At the meeting, the leader of Afghanistan noted that the visit of a high-ranking military delegation opens a new page of cooperation between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
