Legislative Chamber has adopted in the first reading the draft laws ‘On Combating Corruption’ and ‘On the order of service of administrative arrest.’
The Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan at the meeting on October 20 adopted in the first reading the draft law ‘On Combating Corruption’, submitted for consideration to the Lower House of Parliament by the Acting President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The document is aimed at a comprehensive legal regulation of relations in the field of combating corruption, improving the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures implemented by public authorities, organizations and institutions of civil society, as well as the complete eradication of this phenomenon in all spheres of social life.
MPs also adopted in the first reading the draft law ‘On the order of service of administrative arrest.’ It establishes the legal status of special reception centers for the detention of persons subject to administrative arrest, the order of their reception, detention and release, rights and duties, disciplinary measures and other rules relating to the execution of administrative arrest.
Mps noted out that the adoption of this law would help to strengthen safeguards for the protection of the rights and freedoms of detainees, ensuring uniform practice of serving administrative detention, enhancing the effectiveness of law-enforcement bodies and the responsibility of their employees in this area.
