This was underlined at a roundtable meeting devoted to the urgent issues of improving legislation in the field of protection of family held at the Committee on labor and social issues of the Legislative chamber of Oliy Majlis. Taking part at the event were Parliament deputies, representatives of the government and public organizations, scholars and experts.
“Solid legal and practical mechanisms have been set up during the years of independence in this direction,” noted chairman of the Committee Yoqub Umarov. “More than ten Laws and over one hundred normative acts serve as important action guiding mechanisms. The scale of work has expanded even more based on the State Program “The Year of Healthy Mother and Child.”
The modern system of primary, medical preventive, specialized and emergency medical aid has taken shape in our country, which meets the modern international standard requirements. The national concept “Healthy Mother is a Healthy Child” is being implemented in this country. The system of medical patronage has been set up and is being continuously improved with the aim of broader coverage of the population with medical services and all-round protection of the family, motherhood and childhood.
Work is being carried out on securing the provision of the population with high quality and safe food products, propagation of rational nutrition, enrichment of food products with useful elements, vaccination and prevention of diseases emerging as a result of micronutrient insufficiency. Our country was the first one in the world to ensure free provision of pregnant women with multivitamin complexes containing useful microelements.
As a result of undertaken measures during the years of independence the maternal mortality rate deceased 3,2 and that of children 3,4 times over, while 92% of children in our country fully comply with the World Health Organization standards in terms of their development indicators.
