Foreign ministers of the region will create a council of "Central Asian countries - Afghanistan"

On December 11, 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov took part in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Central Asia and Afghanistan, organized in Ashgabad.

Participants of the meeting exchanged views on topical issues of regional policy and security.

In his speech, the head of the Uzbek delegation informed about the fruitful results of the official visit of President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and high-level talks on December 4-6 at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
As it was emphasized, Uzbekistan traditionally conducts friendly policy towards Afghanistan, based on the principles of mutual respect, equality and consideration of each other's interests, supporting the government elected by the Afghan people.

At the meeting, the initiative to create a new consultative format "The countries of Central Asia-Afghanistan" (C5+1) was supported, which is intended to be an effective platform for discussing the entire range of regional issues, as well as developing joint measures for peace and sustainable development with the support of the United Nations, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
