Under Article 98 of the Constitution, the candidacy of Prime Minister is considered by the President on the proposal of the party with a majority in Oliy Majlis’s Legislative Chamber, in this instance by Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party.
Speaking at the joint session, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, proposed to Oliy Majlis the candidacy of Abdulla Aripov, who has until now held the post of Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan.
Abdulla Aripov, also speaking at the session, put forward his short-term and long-term Cabinet of Ministers action plan. Deputies and senators delivered their speeches, supporting the President’s priority objectives and approving the proposed candidacy.
Parliamentarians then approved Abdulla Aripov as Prime Minister and passed a corresponding resolution.
