The meeting aimed to clarify Presidential Decree UP-4861 ‘On Measures for Accelerated Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan’ and outline the committee’s tourism policy. The committee is thus set to formulate and implement a tourism development concept, make tourism a strategic economic sector, and unify the state policy for tourism.
The round-table was attended by Committee Chairman A. Sharapov, Trade-Industry Chamber Chairman A.Shaykhov, Deputy Foreign Minister D. Khakimov, a deputy director of a Central Bank department, ministry officials, and over 150 hotel managers and businessmen, and media.
The committee laid out a medium-term tourism development concept and a 2017-2021 action plan. Participants discussed tourism licencing and certification. They were also presented Mehmonxona, an information system designed to streamline hotel accounts.
Participants discussed pressing issues, tourism development concept, and financial transactions. The talks, second this year, enabled hoteliers communicate with each other.
Committee Chairman A. Sharapov proposed that the talks become a standard practice for businessmen.
On January 12-13, the Committee representatives will hold similar events in Bukhara and Samarkand.
Tourism companies and hotel business representatives from Bukhara, Samarkand, Djizzak and Navoi regions are expected to attend the events.
