The December 4 elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan were transparent and free. This is the official assessment of the mission of observers from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), announced at a briefing at the Republican press center on covering the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

On 9 September 2016, in accordance with Articles 96 and 117 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Article 8 of the law “On elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan” and Articles 5 and 9 of the law “On the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, 4 December 2016 was set as presidential election day.

Central Election Commission: 87.8% of the Voters Performed Their Civic Duties

According to the Central Election Commission, 17,941 million people visited December 4 their precinct polling stations to cast their vote for their candidates.

Precinct Polling Stations Closed, the Counting of Votes Began

At 8 PM Tashkent time all the polling stations closed their doors. According to the Central Election Commission by 7 PM, almost 18 million people, or 86.62% of the total number of voters made their choice in the presidential elections.
