To the national prosperity index by the British Legatum Institute, Uzbekistan maintains the 57th position from among 142 countries of the world.
Among the CIS countries Uzbekistan left behind Kazakhstan, ranked 56th. Armenia occupied 93rd position, Tajikistan – 91st, Georgia – 80th, Azerbaijan – 71st, Ukraine – 70th, Kyrgyzstan – 66th, and Belarus – 63rd position. Russia improved its position, going up to ten positions, from 68th to 58th.
The annual Legatum Prosperity Index ranks 142 countries across eight categories: the Economy, Entrepreneurship & Opportunity; Governance; Education; Health; Safety & Security; Personal Freedom; and Social Capital.
Top ten countries include Norway, Switzerland, New Zealand, Denmark, Canada, Sweden, Australia, Finland, the Netherlands, and Ireland.
