The State Committee of Uzbekistan for Nature Protection and the Austrian Environmental Agency signed a cooperation agreement in Vienna, the Committee press service reports.
The document on cooperation between the environmental authorities of the two countries was signed on January 24 – 27, 2016, during the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Austria, within the framework of preparation for the XXIV OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum. The delegation was headed by the Chairman of the State Committee for Nature Protection.
The agreement provides for cooperation between the parties for the transfer of advanced technologies and practices, improving human resource capacity and the environmental regulations and standards.
Another significant result of the trip was the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the State Committee of Uzbekistan for Nature Protection and the Austrian Cluster Eco World Styria.
The document for cooperation between the parties is the basis for the implementation of joint projects and programs, research, exchange of visits by experts on the improvement of waste management system, the introduction of new technologies for wastewater treatment, alternative energy, reducing air pollution and the development of the environmental monitoring system in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
