Uzbekistan is actively negotiating with a number of foreign partners to support its application for membership in the International Consumers Organization (Consumers International), podrobno.uz writes.
According to a source in the Federation of Consumer Rights Protection Societies, Uzbekistan applied for membership in this international organization in early 2017.
"Now this issue is being considered. To strengthen its position, Uzbekistan holds active negotiations with its foreign partners, in particular, with Azerbaijan and India, as well as with Turkey, where the delegation of the Federation will leave this week," the source said.
In addition, the republic began a process of discussing cooperation with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
"We are interested in two main areas of partnership with this organization. We want to establish relations in the field of competition, to study the world experience in this direction for the improvement of national legislation, as well as in the field of compensation of losses to consumers who suffered damage from manufacturers," the source said.
