Quinoa formerly was no less popular than the corn and potatoes, one of the most popular foods. Bread was baked and various dishes cooked from the seeds of this plant. However, this culture originally from South Africa had been forgotten, but now again gaining popularity largely due to the activities of the United Nations and its subordinate organizations.
This was discussed at a conference held in Dubai dedicated to this culture, which brought together 45 countries.
Experts of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) noted that in the light of the solution of problems of food security and climate change quinoa can play an important role in the saturation of the food market with healthy and nutritious food.
The conference discussed in detail the issues of cultivation possibilities of this plant in various parts of the globe, including in the infertile lands.
