To date, along with the antimonopoly committee, courts and other public authorities to protect the rights and interests of consumers in Uzbekistan is the Federation of Consumer Rights Protection Societies of Uzbekistan.
In 2016, the federation and its regional structures received more than 9,900 applications from consumers. Of these, 93.1 percent were solved positively, recalculation and compensation to consumers in the amount of 3 billion 860 million soums were made.
28.9 percent of applications were for gas supply, 23.6 percent for trade, 15.4 percent for electricity supply and other spheres.
The Federation accepts applications, proposals and complaints from citizens through a virtual reception desk - www.istemol.uz website and helpline 1091.
Proceeding from the main tasks of the Year of Dialogue with the People and Human Interests, the meeting noted the need to create legal consultations with regional associations, regional and city societies "Dialogue with the consumer". Appropriate decisions were made to introduce effective mechanisms for dealing with citizens' appeals.
In cooperation with state bodies, a corresponding program has been developed and is being implemented to improve the legal culture of the population, including young people. Last year, in educational institutions and organizations, at enterprises in this direction, about 7,500 training seminars and round tables.
On a regular basis, the federation conducts a study of public opinion on the state of affairs in the field of consumer protection. To address the identified shortcomings and problems, the information was submitted to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Health, the State Tax Committee, the Central Bank, other departments and supervisory bodies.
