The government of Uzbekistan has approved a provision on the procedure for the formation and maintenance of the Unified Electronic List of Voters (UELV). The register is created by the Central Election Commission (CEC) in cooperation with the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications within the Electronic Government system.
The Resolution stipulates that the information system providing for the formation and maintenance of UELI will be used as a legal experiment during the elections to the district councils of the people’s deputies of Tashkent in December 2017, and by April 1, 2018 the register will be launched throughout the country.
The costs associated with the establishment of UELV and the improvement of departmental information systems aimed at the formation of UELV is carried out at the expense of the ICT Development Fund, as well as grants allocated by the Republic of Korea.
According to the approved provision, citizens of Uzbekistan who have reached the age of 18, who have a permanent or temporary residence, capable, not held in places of deprivation of liberty by a court verdict will be included in UESI.
UELVI will be formed and updated on the basis of information on citizens-voters submitted by the State Center for Personalization under the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as by election commissions by clarifying the voter lists during the election campaign. The register will be updated once a year, and during the election campaign, according to the schedule approved by the CEC.
Citizens-voters will have the opportunity to get acquainted with information about the polling station assigned to them, the address and location of the polling station on the electronic map on the CEC website by entering the personal identification number of the individual (PINI).
