Orel Regional Court (Russian Federation) acknowledged the 30-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan Shahobiddin Urinov as guilty in financing of terrorism. He will be given to law enforcement bodies of Uzbekistan, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia reported.
Urinov is accused that joined the religious extremist movement Tabligchilar in Uzbekistan in 2009 and joined the terrorist organization ‘Islamic Party of Turkestan’ in March 2012.
While he was in Moscow, he recruited supported and collected money up to October 2012 to maintain the ‘Islamic Party of Turkestan’, secretly acting in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Urinov and his counsel, expressing disagreement with the decision, pointed at violations of the criminal procedural law admitted by the trial court.
Judicial board on criminal cases upheld the decision of the Orel Regional Court of 25 August 2015. It recognized decision of the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Gennady Lopatin to give Urinov to law enforcement authorities of the Republic of Uzbekistan for criminal prosecution for terrorist financing.
